Y.D.S.S. Projects

T.R.C.A. staff continue their involvement to ensure that the environmental impacts associated with the planning, design and construction of all
Y.D.S.S. projects in T.R.C.A.’s jurisdiction are minimized. This report will be presented to the full authority on January 6, 2006.
Municipal Tool Kit for Sustainable Development
The Sustainable Communities Board received for information a report regarding this tool kit that is designed to aid municipal leaders with their green building design projects and allow them to encourage green building design for projects within their jurisdiction. Phase 1 involves a step by step approach to assist local governments in building policies and programs for their own building projects. Phase 2 will assist municipalities once they have committed to green building projects in bringing them to successful completion by making changes to their internal building processes which requires a rethinking of established policies and procedures and staff training on green building policies. Phase 3 will be an important step in advancing sustainable building practices by the private sector.
T.R.C.A. staff are recommending that TRCA work with all municipalities in their jurisdiction to review and participate in the new Municipal Tool Kit for sustainable development.
